Shooting Film at Weddings

In the era of massive digital sensors, 8k video, and auto eye focusing, why do photographers shoot film? Especially at weddings?

Film is historic - the essence of what art is.

Film stocks create this nostalgia and familiarity. Not every picture taken on a film camera is art, but it gives this energy that shows intention. It eliminates the spray-and-pray habit the digital camera encourages with its rapid FPS count. There’s a time and place for that (sports/motion), but ultimately film teaches us to be thoughtful, purposeful, and patient.

Using film at weddings is the ultimate test. It’s a combination of photojournalism and street photography; capturing people in real time doing what humans do, just at a wedding.

I could ramble on about it, but I’ll save that for another blog. Enjoy these photos.
